The World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 (WCH Beijing 27) will take place in Beijing from September 11 to 19, 2027. To fully convey the passion and vitality of track and field sports, highlight the distinctive allure of Chinese culture, and enhance the global influence and public engagement of the event, we are now inviting submissions for the emblem, mascot, and slogan from individuals and organizations worldwide. The details of the collection process are as follows:
I. Solicitation Content
This initiative seeks submissions for the emblem, mascot, and slogan of the WCH Beijing 27. The selected designs and concepts will be extensively utilized across various media platforms and occasions, including event promotion, venue atmosphere enhancement, public relations, thematic activities, and marketing.
II. Solicitation Time
The solicitation announcement will be published on the officially designated platform. From now on, December 11, 2025, the submission is officially launched, and the deadline for submission is 24:00 on January 26, 2026, CST (China Standard Time) (the submission date will be determined based on when the works are received by the collector).
III. Requirements for Works
(I) General Requirements
1. Alignment with event positioning and specifications. The works should fully reflect the positioning of the WCH as a “world-class comprehensive track and field event,” comply with the relevant design requirements of World Athletics (WA), highlight the characteristics of the event, such as spectacle and competitiveness, and vividly demonstrate the sportsmanship of athletes striving and advancing with determination.
2. Incorporation of cultural elements and regional characteristics. The works should creatively incorporate elements of traditional Chinese culture and reflect the regional characteristics of Beijing. While ensuring the international recognizability of the designs, the works should also highlight the unique charm of Chinese culture.
3. Originality and uniqueness of the design. The works must distinguish themselves from previous emblems and mascots of past WCHs and other large-scale domestic and international sports events. They should not involve copying, modifying, adapting, or otherwise infringing upon third-party works, ensuring complete originality. Additionally, the works must not be associated with, nor create associations with, any third-party entities, brands, or products to avoid potential ownership disputes and legal risks.
4. Positive value orientation. The works must reflect positive, healthy, and inspiring values, adhering to social norms and good customs. They should promote a positive sports culture and avoid any ambiguous or controversial content.
5. Adaptability and extensibility for various applications. The works must be adaptable to various event-related scenarios, including the creation of promotional materials, the development of licensed products, digital media communication, and sports displays. They should offer a foundation for flexible and extended applications to meet diverse usage needs.
(II) Classification Requirements
1. Emblem
The emblem must adhere to the design specifications set forth by WA. It should fully embody the passion, vitality, and competitive spirit of track and field sports, while effectively conveying the core values of the event.
The emblem should integrate elements of fine traditional Chinese culture and symbolic features representative of Beijing. It must reflect both the modern urban atmosphere and the rich historical and cultural heritage of Beijing, the world’s first city to have hosted both Summer and Winter Olympics.
The emblem must be original and unique. It should be simple and clear, with a strong visual impact and high recognizability. The design must distinguish itself from emblems used in previous WCH and other large-scale domestic and international sports events.
The emblem must be versatile and adaptable for use across various materials, including metal, fabric, and paper. It should also be suitable for diverse applications, such as event promotion, derivative products, and licensed product development, ensuring ease of dissemination.
2. Mascot
The mascot must be vivid, with distinct and recognizable features, capable of gaining broad recognition and affection from individuals of varying cultural backgrounds and age groups.
The mascot should embody the characteristics of track and field sports, while also reflecting the unique features of Beijing. The name of the mascot must be simple, resonant, memorable, and aligned with the image’s intended message.
The mascot must be easily reproducible and adaptable for the development of various derivatives and licensed products. It should possess substantial market promotion potential.
3. Theme slogan
The theme slogan must accurately convey the core concept of track and field sports and encapsulate the vision for hosting the WCH Beijing 27.
The slogan must be simple, direct, catchy, and full of appeal and charisma. It should be easy to remember and evoke a strong emotional connection. Both Chinese and English versions of the slogan must be provided. Each version must effectively convey the core idea, ensuring clarity in both languages.
The slogan must be easily adaptable for global distribution, aligning with the understanding of audiences from different cultural backgrounds. It should enhance the international visibility and attention of the event.
IV. Application Method
Natural persons, legal entities, and other organizations that express an interest in this collection and voluntarily comply with all the requirements outlined in this collection document are eligible to participate. Applicants may submit their works individually or in collaboration with others.
For the preliminary selection phase of this solicitation, applications will only be accepted via email. If an applicant’s work is shortlisted, they will be required to submit physical copies of the materials, as well as any additional relevant information requested. All works and associated documents must be compressed into a single package and submitted in the specified “file format” to the designated email address for the solicitation. The subject line of the email must follow this format: “Solicitation for the WCH Beijing 27 + Author’s Name + Work Type (Emblem/Mascot/Theme Slogan)”.
The following materials must be included in the application:
1. Signed written documents for participation in the collection:
(1) Applicant’s Commitment Letter (See Annex 3)
(2) If the applicant is a legal entity or an unincorporated organization, a Power of Attorney must be provided. (See Annex 4)
(3) Application Form for the Solicitation Activity (See Annex 5)
(The forms must be downloaded from the official platform, signed or stamped by the applicant, and then scanned into PDF files.)
2. Design drawings
(1) The applicant must submit high-resolution design files in JPG (300 dpi) or PDF format for the emblem/mascot, along with vector files in AI or CDR format.
(2) The applicant must provide the theme slogan in a WORD document format.
3. Design description
The applicant shall provide a design description of the submitted work in a WORD document, not exceeding 500 words.
If Adobe Illustrator (AI) or similar software tools were used to assist in the creation of the work, the applicant must provide an accurate description of the tools and the design process employed.
4. Simulation files for the emblem/mascot must also be provided.
5. All files must be compressed into a single package for submission. The file name should follow this standard format: “Submitted Works for the Emblem/Mascot/Theme Slogan of the WCH Beijing 27 – Contact Person’s Name – Contact Phone Number.”

V. Selection and Awards
Selection process:
The Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 will establish an expert review panel to evaluate the eligible submissions. The panel will select three shortlisted entries for each category—emblem, mascot, and theme slogan—and will finalize the selected works upon approval.
Reward measures:
(I) Emblem
1. Final selection award (1 winner): A prize of RMB 50,000 or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
2. Finalist awards (2 winners): A prize of RMB 5,000 each or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
(II) Mascot
1. Final selection award (1 winner): A prize of RMB 50,000 or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
2. Finalist awards (2 winners): A prize of RMB 5,000 each or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
(III) Theme slogan
1. Final selection award (1 winner): A prize of RMB 10,000 or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
2. Finalist awards (2 winners): A prize of RMB 2,000 each or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
All prizes mentioned above are pre-tax amounts, and the winning individuals and entities are responsible for bearing and paying their own taxes.
If there are two or more applicants for the finalist or final selection awards, the applicants shall distribute the prize among themselves and provide the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 with the single account information for receiving the prize. Any disputes arising therefrom (if any) shall have no relation to the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027.
VI. Special Statements
1. This solicitation activity is governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China. Applicants shall comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and normative documents, including but not limited to: Chinese laws and regulations, and laws and regulations of other countries/regions that applicants need to comply with (if applicable).
2. Submitted works must not contain pornographic, violent, political, religious, or other content that conflicts with the event’s culture. They must not be identical or similar to publicly available works, and must not reveal any information about the applicants.
3. Submitted works must be original and unpublished creations by the applicants and must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights or other rights and interests of any third party. If legal disputes arise as a result, the applicants shall bear full responsibility and compensate the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 for any losses incurred. The Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 reserves the right to revoke the prize and certificate and make a public announcement.
4. All ownership, intellectual property rights (including the right to apply for them), and derivative rights such as the right to use the finally selected and winning works shall automatically and permanently vest in the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 (including third parties recognized by the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027) free of charge. The applicants of the selected and winning proposals undertake not to exercise any personal rights related to the works within the scope permitted by law and authorize the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 (including third parties recognized by the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027) to permanently and exclusively exercise such rights worldwide. The Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 has the right to use, develop, modify, license, recreate, etc., the selected and winning works in any form without paying any fees to the applicants.
5. Applicants agree to provide necessary personal information during the application process and consent to the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 taking all reasonable and feasible measures to process the personal information collected during the solicitation process in accordance with China’s relevant data protection and personal information protection regulations. The Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 shall only use all personal information provided by applicants in accordance with this solicitation document for the purposes of this solicitation activity and hosting the event, and shall not use it for any other purposes.
6. Regardless of whether the submitted proposals by applicants are finally selected or winning, applicants shall maintain confidentiality of the submitted proposals and related materials and information related to the participation in this solicitation activity until the closing ceremony of the event, and ensure that they will not disclose any of the aforementioned materials or information to any third party in any way. Applicants shall not conduct commercial publicity at any time, in any place, or in any form regarding whether they have responded to this solicitation document or participated in this solicitation activity, nor shall they indicate in any explicit or implicit manner that they have any connection with the event or the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027.
During this solicitation activity, the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 reserves the right to disqualify applicants who violate the aforementioned confidentiality and publicity restriction obligations from participating in this solicitation activity.
If an applicant’s violation of the aforementioned confidentiality and publicity restriction obligations causes any losses to the WCH Beijing 27 or the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027, the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 has the right to demand compensation from the applicant.
7. If an applicant fails to truthfully inform the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 that AI tools were used to assist in the creation process, the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 has the right to disqualify the applicant and the submitted proposal upon discovery. If this causes any losses to the event or the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027, the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 has the right to demand compensation from the applicant.
8. Upon receiving notification from the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027, applicants shall sign relevant legal documents with the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 at the specified time and place within 10 days, agree to make appropriate modifications and improvements to their submitted proposals on their own or authorize the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 to do so when necessary, and agree on issues related to intellectual property rights involved in the submitted proposals. If an applicant explicitly refuses or fails to reply with consent to sign the aforementioned documents within 10 days, it shall be deemed that the applicant has automatically waived the winning qualification; under the aforementioned circumstances, the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 shall no longer consider the submitted proposal of the applicant as a winning proposal.
9. For non-winning proposals, applicants agree that the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 may handle them in an appropriate manner and do not require the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 to return the submitted proposals and/or works.
10. Under no circumstances shall the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 be liable to applicants for any responsibility in connection with this solicitation activity, including but not limited to the following situations: any technical errors, failures, or delays in the solicitation process, any losses or injuries incurred as a result of participating or failing to participate in this solicitation activity, and any lost content, lost profits, direct or indirect penalties, and damages arising therefrom.
11. The final interpretation right of this solicitation activity belongs to the Local Organising Committee for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027. By submitting application documents, applicants are deemed to have agreed to and complied with all the above provisions.
